Fall Equinox

"Mabon, at the Autumn Equinox, Sept 23, is believed to go back to two ancient Welsh deities: Modron, the great mother, and her infant son, Mabon. Mabon was taken from Modron when he was but three days old, and brought to the underwolrd, much like the Greek goddess Persephone, daughter of Demeter, the great mother goddess. Having lost Mabon, Modron withdrew from the earth, leaving it barren and cold. Not until Mabon reappeared as the male fertilizing principle around Imbolc did life return to the earth.
At Mabon, we celebrate our second and final harvest.. "
