Balance: Shadow and Light

Life is a continuous balance between shadow and light, grief and joy. The Red Road is narrow and has no guard-rails, but it is the Beauty Path. When we walk in Beauty we walk in Balance.

Each aspect of us can express as Shadow or Light. We are not to avoid or condemn our Shadow, but rather, embrace and learn to love those parts of us we may have believed to be unloveable - in that way, we bring them to the light of love and transmute the duality that divides us into parts. We become whole.

Walk in Balance and Beauty

Honor the sacred.
Honor the Earth, our Mother.
Honor the Elders.
Honor all with whom we share the Earth:-
Four-leggeds, two-leggeds, winged ones,
Swimmers, crawlers, plant and rock people.
Walk in balance and beauty.
~ Native American Elder

“Where there is light, there must be shadow, where there is shadow there must be light. There is no shadow without light and no light without shadow.... "

Haruki Murakami

"The true work of art is but a shadow of the divine perfection."

"Everything that we see is a shadow cast by that which we do not see."

Martin Luther King, Jr.

"The second principle of Taoism is that of Dynamic Balance. There are always two basic distinctions in nature, symbolized by the yin and yang (sun and moon, heaven and earth, dark and light, chaos and order, etc.), but Taoism sees balance as the basic characteristic underlying these distinctions.

The Tao is the One. From the One come yin and yang; From these two, creative energy (chi); From energy, ten thousand things, The forms of all creation. All life embodies yin And embraces yang, Through their union Achieving harmony."
